We breed pure Carnica bees from the 6 lines of the Sklenar genetics. Master beekeepers Robert Beck and Franz Obendorfer joined forces in 2019 to form a breeding partnership and have since combined their two operations to the benefit of their many customers in approximately 25 countries.
Our queen bee genetics come from master beekeeper Anton Schleining, the successor of Hannerl Weber-Sklenar (daughter of Guido Sklenar). From 1985 to 2014, Schleining himself managed the Hirschgrund mating station and during this time passionately bred the Sklenarbee. Thirty years of intensive selection resulted in very uniform and stable lines.

Expertise & infrastructure
Robert Beck is a certified master beekeeper and even graduated top of his class. Breeding colleague Franz Obendorfer is also a master beekeeper and manages the Hirschgrund mating station. We can therefore demonstrate a solid foundation of expertise. Our apiaries have a professional infrastructure and are operated as primary or secondary businesses. This is particularly important when handling the logistics of queen bee shipments.

Breeding selection from up to 300 colonies
Meaningful selection can only be carried out with a reasonable number of comparison colonies. On our farms, we manage up to 300 bee colonies for honey production. This gives us optimal conditions for conducting appropriate performance tests.

Sklenar's legacy
We live and work at the former site of Guido Sklenar's beekeeping operation. He even lived in our hometown for several years. One of our apiary locations is only 7 kilometers from the Hirschgrund mating station. Our queen bee genetics come from the original breeding operation of master beekeeper Schleining, the successor of Sklenar's daughter..
